New here, three months in, sleeping again

Hi everyone, Terry here — 52, I do patient intake for a telehealth company, so I spend all day telling other people to ask their doctor and then go home and worry about my own numbers. My A1c crept up into the pre-diabetic zone back in March, so I've been tracking things since: walking the dog twice a day, finally eating like an adult. Down about 15 pounds. The weird part is I'm sleeping through the night for the first time in years, which I did not expect at all. My cholesterol went the wrong direction though, and my doctor shrugged it off as a weight-loss thing, but it still nags at me. Anyone else see that happen and then have it settle down later?

The A1c drop from 5.7 to 5.3 in 14 weeks is no joke. What changed most in your diet?

For me LDL went up during active fat loss too, then dropped after weight stabilized. Triglycerides falling that much is a good sign.

Same here. Mine spiked around week 12 and settled by week 22. I wasn’t eating more saturated fat, just losing faster.

ApoB, though? LDL alone sent me down a rabbit hole.

No ApoB yet. My doctor only ordered standard lipids. Is it worth asking for next time?

I’d track waist, fasting glucose, and how you feel more than one LDL number. But that’s just my own pattern.

That resting HR drop is the part I’d frame. 74 to 61 in 14 weeks shows the engine is responding.

I had the opposite: LDL fell but HDL stayed flat. Genetics maybe? My dad has similar numbers.

The deep sleep jump is interesting. Did you change caffeine timing too, or just exercise?

I’ve seen the LDL rise thing in my own logs three times now. For me it tracked with rapid weight loss and low carb, not with dietary cholesterol. Once I held weight steady for 6-8 weeks, LDL came back toward baseline. Not saying that’s universal, but your trig drop plus A1c drop looks like the overall trend is going the right way. I also noticed my HDL barely moved until I added more easy Zone 2 work. What’s your current fiber intake? And are you losing about a pound a week or faster?

Fifteen grams is still better than where I started. Psyllium helped me, but the first week was rough.
