A cheap pH strip now lives with my mixing supplies

I've been an empty nester for 14 months, and my new routine is morning walks, a real lunch, and actually labeling things in the kitchen. A while back I mixed a batch and it looked slightly cloudy compared to usual. I didn't use it, but it nagged at me.

Now I keep a small sleeve of pH strips in the same drawer as my alcohol pads. If a bottle of bacteriostatic water has been open a while or the seal looks iffy, I check it before I mix. It takes maybe 30 seconds and gives me one less thing to wonder about at 9 p.m.

I'm not saying everyone needs another chore. I'm just curious: does anyone else do a quick supply sanity check before mixing, or do you trust the bottle until something looks wrong?
