Eighteen months, four lifting days, and a different kind of result

I’m 18 months into this, lifting four days a week, protein around 165g, sleep treated like a training session. The weight loss is modest: 43 pounds. What surprised me is recomp: waist down 5 inches, strict pull-ups went 0 to 6, and my usual lifts are back where they were five years ago. I’m not into peptide stacking or chasing every new acronym. I log food, train hard, and judge progress by tape and gym numbers when the weight graph gets boring. For the lifters here: what’s your most trusted progress metric once bodyweight stops telling the whole story?

Congrats—this is the kind of recomp I keep hoping for. The pull-up jump is huge. I’m curious: when your waist started dropping, did you notice it in clothes before the scale moved? I’ve started tracking waist at navel plus progress photos, and it’s helped me stay patient through stalls. Also, for your four lifting days, do you run upper/lower or a different split? And how do you decide when to deload—sleep, soreness, or a set schedule? I’m cautious about pushing when recovery feels off.
