A year ago this plateau would've sent me to the kitchen

I hit 130 pounds down this month, which still doesn't feel real when I type it. But the scale has been parked on the same number for five weeks now, and a year ago that would have sent me straight to the kitchen for comfort.

What's different: our youngest moved out in the spring, and instead of sitting in the quiet house I started walking the loop around our neighborhood every morning — 2.8 miles, same route, same nosy golden retriever at the corner. I've also been cooking actual meals again, the kind that take 40 minutes and dirty three pans, because I have the time now and nobody to rush for.

So the number isn't moving. But my jeans from last fall are baggy, my knees don't complain on the stairs anymore, and I slept seven straight hours last night. I'm calling that progress.

Anyone else find the plateaus easier to sit with once the rest of your life started shifting too?

dude 130 down is wild, congrats. five weeks stuck is annoying but not failure. the walking loop thing hits me bc i’m a late-night gamer and my old comfort run was also the kitchen between matches. what helped me not spiral: weekly scale average + tape measure instead of daily weigh-ins. plateau weeks the scale didn’t move but my jeans got looser and my watch resting heart rate dropped. also kept cold soda water in the fridge for the hand-to-mouth habit lol. is your loop a real route or just circling the block? either way, walking after the house goes quiet sounds like a solid replacement ritual.

I run a cafe, so I get the kitchen-temptation thing on a weird level—it’s not just comfort, it’s “just one bite” all shift long. When my scale parked for a bit, what actually helped was changing the hand-to-mouth stuff around the edges: no grazing while prepping, and I started plating even a snack on a real plate instead of eating over the counter. Curious—has your walking loop turned into something you genuinely like, or is it still mostly the thing you do instead of opening the fridge?

First, 130 down is huge — congrats. Five weeks parked is maddening, but I love that the quiet house turned into a walking loop instead of the kitchen. That’s the whole game right there. I’m on my second go-round after regaining 40, so no halo here. What’s the loop like — flat, hilly, how long? I only ask because when I stalled last time, I started noticing non-scale stuff (stairs, sleep, jeans) before the scale moved, and adding two small hills to my route gave me something to chase besides the number. Are you walking it same time every day, or just whenever the quiet gets loud?

Five weeks flat after 130 down — your body's just catching up. What got me through my last stall was quitting the scale for two weeks and using a tape measure plus one pair of jeans instead. Those numbers moved while the scale sulked.

How long is your loop, and do you walk it before or after your shift? On nights that changes everything.
