i've weighed daily for 18 weeks now — 126 mornings, same routine: bathroom, scale, log it, then coffee. The number bounces around by 0.5–2 lbs depending on salt, sleep, hormones, whatever. My trend line is what keeps me calm; it's down 21 lbs since I started, and my jeans went from a tight 16 to a comfortable 12. But the comments can sting. Last weekend my sister saw the scale and said, 'You're not going to let that thing run your life, are you?' I just shrugged and said the daily data helps me zoom out, not spiral. I didn't feel like defending it, but it stuck with me. I know daily weighing isn't for everyone, and that's fine. For me, it's just a data point, not a grade. How do you handle comments from people who think tracking daily is obsessive?
Anyone else get side-eye for weighing every morning?

I get it. I weigh daily too, but I stopped announcing the daily number to anyone but my log. If someone comments, I just say, “It’s a data point, not a verdict,” and change the subject. Adding a monthly waist measurement and a pair of goal jeans check-in helped me a lot — the scale can stall for a week while my belt still moves a notch. Question for you: when people give side-eye, are they reacting to the daily habit itself, or to the fact that you’re actually losing and it makes them uncomfortable? Either way, 21 lbs and a 16 to 12 is not noise — that’s the trend doing its job.
