Cousin's wedding next month and I'm nervous about the comments

Next month is my cousin's wedding, and it will be the first time in three years that a big chunk of my extended family sees me. I'm down 36 pounds since January. I run a small cafe, so I'm around food I made myself all day - the 'just taste this' spoon is my personal obstacle course. I'm not really worried about the scale that weekend. I'm worried about the comments. My aunties are loving but loud. When someone said I looked different at Easter, I mumbled something about better sleep and went to refill drinks. I don't want to spend the reception explaining my prescription or defending a plate. I want to dance with my niece and actually enjoy the food I choose. For those who see far-flung family after a big change, what do you say when the comments start? Do you keep it short, change the subject, or just let them talk? And any buffet strategy that doesn't feel like a military operation?

Night shifter here. 36 down while running a cafe isn't luck. That's systems. For the wedding: pick one boring line and repeat it. "Thanks, I feel good." Then ask them about themselves. People love that. Kep a drink in your hand. Don't park by the buffet. Pre-plan one plate. If someone pushes food: "I'm good, saving room." No explaining. You cut off at "I'm worried" — is it body comments or the people who'll ask how? Those need different scripts.

first off, 36 pounds since January while running a cafe? The tasting spoon is a real boss battle. I was at our little pharmacy picking up a refill—still fighting with insurance, naturally—and the tech said she keeps a seltzer in her hand at family parties so nobody can push a plate on her. I’m stealing that. Also pick one or two bites at the reception you actually want, then step away from the buffet. For the comments, I’ve got a boring “Thanks, I feel good” and a quick subject change. What comment are you dreading most: the weight talk or the “just eat, it’s a wedding” push?
