I started measuring my loss against my own starting line

When the scale moves only 0.8 lb after a week that felt really consistent, my brain wants to call it a failure. But I’ve started dividing the total change by my starting weight, and the percentage tells a calmer story. I started at 238 in January; down 22 lb is about 9.2% of me, even if today’s number is almost the same as last Tuesday. It also helped me notice that 1 lb means different things at different sizes. I still log pounds because I like the detail, but the percentage keeps me from spiraling over water shifts. Does anyone else use a percentage goal, or does it just make the math feel more abstract? Gentle curiosity, not trying to tell anyone how to track.
