My dorm protein rotation costs less than one campus latte

Broke student check-in: I’m down 52 lbs since February, and the biggest change isn’t gym stuff — it’s that my mini fridge now looks like a sad little dairy and legume museum. Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna packets, boiled eggs from the dining hall, and a bag of red lentils I cook in a $12 rice cooker. I’ve eaten so much yogurt that my taste buds have started negotiating for a new roommate. Appetite is low most days, so I mostly eat tiny weird plates: lentils with salsa, cottage cheese with everything bagel seasoning, tuna mixed with mustard and pickles. Not glamorous, but cheap and it keeps me from living on vending machine crackers. The scale finally moved after a month of me acting like canned beans were a personality. What’s your cheapest no-cook or dorm-friendly protein that doesn’t taste like punishment?

Not sure if it’s the same for you, but my yogurt burnout was a sweetness problem, not a yogurt problem. I switched half my containers to savory: plain Greek yogurt + lemon + za’atar + diced cucumber, or stirred into warm red lentils with frozen spinach. Weirdly good, and it stretched the lentils so I wasn’t eating plain mush by Thursday. I also started tracking cost per 30g protein out of curiosity — boiled dining-hall eggs and lentil+yogurt bowls were stupid cheap; tuna packets were the outlier. In the trials, protein at breakfast tends to help with later hunger, but I can’t say it’s magic. How are you seasoning the lentils? Mine only got edible once I added acid and something crunchy.
