Dad of two, 4 months in, labs flipped

Hey all. 43, two kids, I drive a beer truck so I'm on my feet all day and the weight still crept on anyway. Been tracking food, sleep and steps since a physical back in January that kind of scared me. Down 19 lbs, sleeping better, knees finally quiet. Weird part is my inflammation numbers dropped but my cholesterol went the other way — anybody else see that early on, or is that worth bugging my doctor about?

Welcome. Similar at week 12: LDL 112→148, trigs 135→88. My CRP didn’t budge though. The CRP drop is the part that makes me jealous.

Not convinced sleep explains a 37-point LDL rise by itself. Did saturated fat or cheese go up too? That was my hidden variable.

For me yes. More cheese and eggs, LDL +31, trigs -40. Pulled cheese back, LDL -18. N=1, but the pattern was hard to ignore.

I’d kill for trigs under 100. Mine are stuck at 160. Did your fasting insulin move or just glucose?

Same question. My glucose dropped 9 points but LDL climbed 26. I added ApoB and NMR because plain LDL didn’t tell me much.

Fifteen weeks of logging food, sleep, and training, and the lipid panel did the same thing: LDL 104→139, trigs 150→92. Not panicking, just writing it down.

What’s your lifting split? I started 3x/week too and my HDL went 42→51 in 10 weeks. Curious if volume matters more than diet changes.

HDL up and trigs down usually looks favorable, but I’ve watched this LDL question split people for years. One camp says the rise is early adaptation, especially if you’re losing weight and training more; they see it settle by month six. The other camp says if ApoB keeps climbing, the trig/HDL win doesn’t cancel it out. The cheese/egg angle matters too, because some people respond hard to saturated fat. Not saying that’s your case. I log weight, waist, sleep, and training alongside labs; that gives a pattern instead of one scary number. The June ApoB plan makes sense.

I’m in the keeps climbing camp so far. Week 20, LDL 118→162, ApoB 88→112. But my trigs/HDL ratio is way better. It’s a weird trade.

That's the trade worth understanding. The part people forget is that a baseline panel only tells you so much — the real question is the repeat at the 6-month mark, and whether the rise actually plateaus or just keeps climbing. Anyone here done a second one?
