I’m 9 weeks in on a GLP-1 and down 19 lbs. I thought I’d be thrilled, but my appetite has basically vanished; I’m 5’4” and my size 6 jeans are loose now. My original goal was a size 10, so this feels like more than I bargained for. I track body signals pretty closely and try to eat protein every 3 hours, but most days I land around 1,000–1,200 calories and feel full after a few bites. I’m not asking for dosing help or medical advice—my clinician knows. I’m just wondering if anyone else has dealt with unwanted weight loss on a GLP-1 and found gentle ways to slow it down, lke smoothies, smaller meals, or taking breaks? I keep seeing peptide chatter around appetite and weight gain, but I’m staying cautious. Would love to hear what helped you feel steadier.
Anyone else losing past goal and struggling to eat?
Totally get the weird feeling—loose size 6 when size 10 was the goal would mess with my head too. With two kids, I stopped trying to eat full meals at set times. I keep a sack drawer: Greek yogurt tubes, cheese sticks, turkey jerky, roasted chickpeas, and shelf-stable milk boxes. When my appetite is gone, cold + salty + creamy goes down easier than a plate. I also add nut butter or olive oil to whatever I do eat, because volume was tricking me. Are you actually hungry when you eat, or just hitting the 3-hour timer? If it’s the timer, maybe try 1–2 snack-drawer combos and one bigger kid-friendly dinner instead.
i’ve been there. What got me out of the under-eating spiral was switching from “protein every 3 hours” to “calories I don’t have to chew”: whole-milk yogurt with peanut butter, olive oil drizzled on whatever, a small smoothie with oats. I logged it as a snack, not a meal, so it felt less daunting. Also: are you still doing the same activity level as before? When I added 10 min of resistance bands, my appetite came back a little and I stopped shrinking. Might be worth experimenting with.
