My protein tub turns into a geology project at the bottom

Three years on this forum, mostly holding steady, and I still have the same dumb problem: the last inch of protein powder in the tub turns into something that needs a chisel. I use a wide silicone spatula, then a butter knife around the edges, then shake the whole thing over a bowl and feel like a bartender with a grudge. This morning I got maybe half a scoop out and the rest is just sitting there, mocking me. There was a thread a while back about protein sludge and someone mentioned a funnel? I can’t remember. I’m not looking to switch brands or buy another gadget unless it genuinely works. How do you all handle the caked bottom of a tub? Do you break it up first, or just accept the last bit belongs to the trash?

The bottom inch is my nemesis too. What finally helped: I don’t shake the tub. I pour powder into a wide-mouth quart jar from the start, so I can see it and scrape with a tiny silicone baby spoon. When I get down to dust, I dump it into the next new tub and shake that once—no bartending grudge required. I also weigh the scoop instead of trusting it, because the caked stuff packs denser and throws off my tracking. Is yours clumping from humidity, or is it just the tub shape?

Tbh which protein is it? I found isolates in a foil bag clump way less than a whey blend in a fat tub, purely because the bag lets me knead it. Also: I stopped scooping over the tub

I tracked this for 6 tubs because I’m that person. Clumping didn’t correlate with how low the tub was; it correlated with days since opening (r=0.79) and kitchen humidity over 55%. The last inch was just the visible symptom. Now I dump the last ~150 g into a pint mason jar, add a food-safe des

I feel this in my soul. What finally helped me was treating the last inch like a separate product: I pour it through a fine-mesh strainer into a small wide-mouth jar, then use a silicone pastry brush to sweep the tub walls. The strainer breaks up the pebbles and I can actually see what’s left. I also keep a dedicated dry scoop and never leave it in the tub—moisture is the enemy. Gentle q: is it worse in humid weather, or pretty much always by the time you hit the bottom? I’m trying to figure out if mine is compaction or humidity.
