My freezer tape keeps quitting before the chili does

I pre-portion six 2-cup containers of chili and a few 5-oz chicken packs every Sunday, mainly so I hit my protein target without playing guess-the-tub. By midweek, the tape has curled up and the ink is sweating off. The food is fine; the label is just a damp little flag. I've tried writing directly on the lid, but thaw condensation smears it, and frost seems to lift the edges first. In the trials I've skimmed on adherence, visual cues matter more than memory, but a peeled label stops being a cue. My current setup is painter's tape under the rim, folded at one corner, plus a phone note with dates and portions. It survives maybe three weeks. Not asking for a brand, just curious what actually sticks in a real freezer. Grease pencil? Freezer paper? Numbered lids and a whiteboard?
