I'd pictured this milestone with noise — maybe a happy text to my sister, maybe a little cry. Instead I stepped off, wrote the number in my notes, and made eggs.
I'm down 76 lbs over about 15 months, which still feels strange to type. The body-signal part has been more interesting than the scale: my resting heart rate has dropped from the low 70s to the high 50s, and the two flights of stairs at work no longer make me stop at the landing.
I'm trying not to make one morning's readout mean too much, so I'm watching my weekly average and how my sleep and hunger feel. I'm happy, but it's a cautious kind of happy.
For those who've passed a big number, did the feeling arrive later — or did it stay quiet like this?
