New here, week one, and a little unsure what’s normal

Hi everyone, I’m brand new here and on day 5 of week one. I’m not sure what’s normal, so I hope it’s okay to ask a tiny question. I had half a turkey sandwich and a few grapes at lunch and felt full for hours, which never happens for me. I also noticed I’m not thinking about snacks at 3 p.m. like I usually do. Part of me is excited, part of me is worried I’m doing something wrong. I’ve been trying to drink water and take a short walk after dinner. Is it common to feel this full early on, or does it settle into something more even? Thanks for letting me lurk and learn.

Traveling week one here too. My weird moment was a hotel breakfast: I made a plate, ate half the eggs, and just… stopped. No mental debate. What I’ve started doing is a 10-second note in my phone: time, what I ate, hunger 1–10. When 3 p.m. comes and I’m not snack-hunting, I log that as a win instead of waiting for the other shoe to drop. Airport tip: keep a protein-ish snack in your carry-on so you’re not forced into a concourse pretzel at 9 p.m. Is your full feeling more “pleasantly done” or “food suddenly meh”? That distinction helped me figure out my new normal.

Welcome! The no-3-p.m.-snack thing was wild to me too. Something new I’ve been doing: I keep a sticky note on the fridge that says “hungry or bored?” and jot down what actually sounded good that day. Week one, cold applesauce and plain crackers were my easy wins, and coffee tasted off for a bit. Small-town pharmacy tip—ours only runs deliveries certain days, so I call for refills early and ask them to text when it’s ready. Insurance only does 30-day fills here, so I mark the kitchen calendar. Are you finding any foods suddenly too sweet or too strong?

Welcome—week one can feel very surreal. One concrete thing that helped me was a tiny evening note: a 1–10 hunger score before dinner, a 1–10 fullness score after, and one word for energy. I pair that with my weekly average rather than daily weigh-ins, so I can see trends without overreacting to one odd day. Has anyone else noticed that temperature or texture matters more than flavor right now? Warm, soft foods have been the only thing that sounds appealing to me some days, which was unexpected.

I’m on week one too, and the strangest thing for me is cooking. Empty nest, so I still make “family” amounts out of habit—last night I made our old chili recipe and my bowl looked tiny next to the pot. I froze the rest in single portions and felt weirdly relieved, not deprived. I’ve also started a short after-dinner walk just to give the evening a new rhythm. What I’m trying to figure out: did your old favorite meals start tasting richer or saltier to you, or was it more that you just wanted less? I’m curious whether I should tweak recipes now or just wait and see.

Honestly, welcome from someone stuck on a long plateau. The early full-for-hours thing does settle into a new rhythm, but those first weeks are disorienting. One concrete thing helped me later: I tracked my first real hunger pang of the day instead of tracking meals. For two weeks

Hi! Fellow week-one person here, still figuring it out too. One tiny thing I’ve been doing: I put my fork down after every few bites and set a 10-minute timer. Sounds silly, but it helps me tell “still hungry” from “already full.” I also jot the time in my phone when fullness hits, because mine seems to sneak up a little later than I expect. Is yours immediate, or does it creep up on you? Sorry if that’s a silly question—just curious if anyoe else notices that.

One thing I didn’t expect was my “clean plate” reflex just disappearing. I stopped at half a sandwich too and didn’t feel deprived, which was oddly emotional. I’ve started tracking just two things in my notes app: the first real hunger cue and when I feel neutral-full. No numbers, no pressure. Are you noticing any taste or texture shifts yet? Grapes tasted almost too sweet to me yesterday, which felt like a weird little body-signal clue. Week one is such a strange adjustment—glad you asked.
