I got my work badge picture taken 18 months ago. Yesterday they set up new photos, and the guy recognized my file photo and said, 'We should do a side-by-side.' I laughed, but then I stood there trying not to look awkward. I'm down 52 pounds since that first one. The weird part is I didn't feel dramatic about it until he pulled up the old shot. Same fluorescent hallway, same bad lighting, and I remembered shoving a granola bar in my face during pickup because I hadn't eaten since breakfast. My snack drawer at work is now string cheese and roasted chickpeas, and that's honestly done more for my afternoons than any big overhaul. Two kids, chaotic dinners, so I keep it boring.
