Combo trial hype doesn't solve my lean-mass question

I read the mid-stage combo-obesity news this morning and felt the same shrug I get from most of these headlines. More average pounds lost is not the metric I care about. I lift four days a week, eat around 180g protein, sleep 7-8 hours, and I'm tracking waist plus main lifts because I want recomp, not just a lighter scale. Since March I'm down 17 lb, waist minus 3 inches, and my bench/squat have held steady, which for me is the actual win. What I want from any combo regimen is whether people can keep protein down, train hard, and recover without feeling wrecked. If the extra loss comes from barely eating and losing muscle, that's a bad trade in my book. I'm not anti-medication; I'm anti-mystery. Anyone else reading these trial write-ups and mentally translating them into "what happens to my deadlift and sleep"? Or am I being too narrow?
