Sugar still talks, but it no longer runs the kitchen

I hit my goal weight two winters ago and have been in maintenance since. The part I didn’t expect is how cravings changed shape rather than disappearing. A bakery smell can still make me want something, but it’s a passing sentence now, not a whole paragraph. Last month I bought a pint of coffee ice cream on a Sunday. In my old life it would’ve been gone by Tuesday. This one lasted 19 days, and I ate it on maybe six of them. What I’ve learned: most of my sugar urges show up when I’ve under-eaten protein at lunch or slept badly. If I feed myself properly and wait 20 minutes, the urgency usually drops a level. I still say yes to birthday cake. I just don’t treat every craving like a command. For those farther out in maintenance, did your sugar cravings fade, change shape, or just get easier to sit with?
