App updates keep wiping my logs and help desk is vague

Small frustration. I’ve used the app for 14 weeks to track protein (goal 120 g/day), steps (7k), and weekly waist measurements. The latest update logged me out, then restored an older backup from week 6. My streak and 1.5 inches of waist data are gone. Help desk replied with a canned “reinstall and sync” message; it didn’t fix it. I’m not chasing a badge, but I use the trend lines to adjust intake when loss stalls. Now I’m maintaining a parallel spreadsheet. Anyone else seeing post-update data rollbacks, or is this isolated? If it happened, what actually resolved it?

ugh, same thing happened to me around week 8. Now I do a Sunday morning backup ritual with coffee: export the app’s CSV (if yours has it), screenshot my streak, and snap a photo of the tape measure at my waist. I also turned off auto-updates for that app so nothing changes overnight. It feels a bit old-school, but after the empty nest I actually like having a paper-ish trail. Does your app let you export anything, or is it all locked in the cloud? If not, a Notes log might save your 14 weeks.

Oof, losing 1.5 inches to a software patch is brutal. I’m a dorm-dweller too, and my cheap insurance is a “receipts” note: every Sunday I type waist + avg protein + step streak into my phone notes, and screenshot the app before any update. Takes 30 seconds, saved me when mine rolled back to an ancient backup. Sharp question: did support check whether the update made a second profile? Mine once logged me into an old Apple-hidden account, and my “missing” logs were sitting there like a forgotten ramen packet. If not, can you rebuild week 6–14 from progress photos or texts? Still annoying, but you might salvage the 1.5 inches.

For what it's worth, That is genuinely frustrating, especially when the missing waist trend is the part that shows your effort. Before you re-enter everything, have you looked under Settings for an export or account-history option? After one reset, I found my older weekly entries tucked there instead of in

Optimization take: stop treating the app as the database. Make it a disposable UI. I keep a plain-text log in Notes: 2025-06-01 | P 128 | S 8.2k | W 34.25—one line a day, append-only. The app can sync, crash, or revert to week 6; it’s just a display layer. Waist gets the tape once a week and a mark on a paper calendar. Zero merge conflicts.

Sharp question: does your app export raw CSV, or only share-card screenshots? If it’s the latter, every update is a delete button with extra steps. 1.5 inches is data worth protecting from product managers.

Tbh Veteran of the 2022 “mystery rollback” thread here. One thing I haven’t seen mentioned: before you reinstall again, check whether your phone’s regular cloud backup includes app data. If it does, the reinstall can pull that week-6 snapshot from your phone backup, not the app’s server. I now keep waist numbers in a plain notes file with dates and use the app only as a glance layer. Did support confirm whether your lost data ever lived server-side, or just on-device?

Ugh, I remember a thread last spring about the week-6 backup bug — sounds like it may have resurfaced. What platform are you on? On Android I finally turned off auto-updates for the tracking app and only update manually after I’ve screenshotted my weekly summary. It’s annoying, but it stopped the surprise rollbacks. Also, for waist data, I keep a cloth tape in my bathroom drawer and jot the number on the back of a monthly paper calendar. Low-tech, but it survived every app meltdown. If support keeps giving canned replies, ask them to escalate to tier 2 and specifically cite the restore-from-week-6 issue; that’s what got mine looked at.

Hi, I’m brand new here (only on day 3), and this is honestly making me nervous. Does your app have a web login or account page? I’m trying to figure out where the data actually lives. Since the update logged you out and restored week 6, could it have created a duplicate profile, with your real 14-week one still under the old email/login? Maybe support can check for a second account instead of only saying reinstall and sync. Sorry if that’s a silly question; I’m just trying to understand before I rely on it.

Tbh oh man, I feel this. I run a cafe and my days are endless “just a bite” of scone batter and portioning out soups. I started keeping a tiny notebook in my apron for waist measurements and nightly protein totals. When the app ate my week 8 data, I just re-entered from that. Not fancy, but my 1.5 inches didn’t vanish. Sharper question: did the update also reset your step goal? Mine flipped from 7k to 10k silently, and I didn’t notice for three days. Maybe check that too before you reinstall again.

Not exactly the same bug, but an update ate about ten days of my step history last month. What saved my sanity was a low-tech backup: every Sunday I screenshot my waist and protein summary, drop it in a hidden album, and keep a tiny paper log taped inside the bathroom cabinet. If your app has an export CSV option, use it before reinstalling — the sync advice won’t recover overwritten cloud data. Does your version offer a “merge local data” choice at login, or only replace? I’m in a long plateau too, so losing 1.5 inches of waist data would make me feral.

Ugh, that’s so invalidating — 14 weeks and 1.5 inches is real progress, not just digits. One thing that saved me when my tracker glitched: I started a plain Notes page titled “Waist Sundays” and typed the date + measurement, then added a quick tape-measure photo in the same note. Also, your phone’s native health/fitness app may still have step history even if the tracker rolled back. Could you rebuild the missing waist points from any photos or old backups? Even a rough weekly trend is better than losing the whole arc. What’s your backup plan until the app feels trustworthy again?

Night shift here too. I don’t trust the app with the numbers I care about. I keep a plain note on my phone: date, waist, protein, steps. 20 seconds after my last meal. Before every update, I screenshot the weekly summary. If it wipes, I re-enter from the note. Annoying, but it saved my 14-week trend twice. Sharp question: does yur app have an export/CSV option? If yes, pull one now and email it to yourself. If no, start the note tonight. Don’t chase the streak—it’s fluff. The tape measure is the real record.
