Down 22 kg, then eleven weeks of nothing

hi all, mostly a lurker but I could use some company on this one. I work the counter at a breakfast place — muffins, pastries, the whole spread is basically my kryptonite — and I've lost 22 kg over about 14 months. The scale has sat at the same number for 11 weeks now, and honestly it's messing with my head more than I expected.

The weird part is I don't think I'm doing anything obviously wrong. I weigh my yogurt and berries at breakfast, I'm getting my protein in, the dog gets her 40-minute walk most days. But the little tastes add up: a spoon of frosting, half a cookie that crumbled, one bite of a pastry nobody claimed. And my dinner portions have quietly crept back up.

Good news is I went from a size 20 to a 14, and I'd love to see a 12 by spring. One small win: I've started packing my own lunch in a container before the rush instead of grazing off the line, and that's helped my afternoons a lot.

For those of you who stalled out after a big loss, what finally nudged the scale for you — tightening up portions, switching up meals, or just being patient? Would love to hear what worked.

Hey, I feel this. I waitress at a diner and the smell of cinnamon rolls is basically a personality trait. When my scale stalled, I started logging one “danger” item at work — like one muffin — honestly, not to shame myself, just to see. Turns out my little bites were almost a whole extra breakfast by Friday. Our tiny pharmacy has a free scale by the counter, and I check there monthly because my home floor is uneven. Insurance is a whole other headache, so I’m just doing old-school notebook tracking. Have your shifts changed lately — more morning tastings, less walking because you’re short-staffed? That might be a clue.

Scale stalls after big loss are usually a math/disappearance problem, not a mystery. I hit a 10-week plateau too; turns out I was “not counting” the bites I ate while cooking/plating. At a breakfast place that’s death by a thousand muffin crumbs. Two things helped: (1) log a normal shift day honestly, including 3 bites here/2 there, (2) track waist + progress pics + main lifts, not just scale. My scale froze but my waist dropped 3 cm and squat went up, so it was recomp/water noise. Sharp question: have your measurements or gym numbers changed at all in those 11 weeks, or is literally everything flat?

Breakfast counter is brutal for stealth calories. When I stalled, I started logging every “tiny” taste during shift — broken muffin top, swipe of frosting, a few bites of pastry — and it added up to 300–500 cal/day. Do you track those, or only actual meals? If not, try one normal shift with a food scale or measuring spoons for

I worked a bakery counter through a stall. The culprit was occupational grazing: a bite of muffin, broken scone edge, frosting swipe. I weighed it once out of curiosity — a “bite” averaged 45–60 kcal. Eight to ten per shift is 400–600 kcal, and it never hit my log. Do you track work tastes, or only meals? If not, do a 3-day weighed log including every crumb and finger-lick. That’s the first place I’d look before changing anything else.
