Hit my goal weight this week after fourteen months

I stepped on the scale this morning and saw a number I have not seen since my early twenties. Fourteen months in, my weekly averages have finally crossed the line I set for myself: 138 pounds, down from 241. The last stretch was slow — some weeks only a quarter pound — but keeping a simple spreadsheet of Monday weigh-ins has kept me honest without making me anxious.

Two habits have mattered most for me: a protein-forward breakfast and a twenty-minute walk after dinner, most evenings. My jeans went from a size 20 to a size 10, which still surprises me when I pull them off the shelf.

I know maintenance is its own chapter, and I would rather learn from people living it than guess my way through. For those of you who have been holding steady for six months or more, what changed for you once the losing stopped?

Night shifter here. Monday mornings were trash for me. I weigh after my last sleep, same time, before coffee. Otherwise a bad shift shows up as 2-3 lbs of water and I spiral. Yor weekly average trick is the only thing that works. Do you keep the Monday spreadsheet in maintenance, or switch to a 3-5 lb range and only act when you’re out of it? Congrats on 138. That’s real work.

Congrats — 103 lbs is huge, and especially impressive that those quarter-pound weeks didn’t derail you. I’m a daily weigher too, but I log the 7-day average and only really act on the monthly trend; Monday-only would’ve made me overreact to every salty Sunday. One thing I wish I’d done sooner was add a second tab for non-scale wins: waist measurement, how stairs feel, sleep. Are you planning to keep the Monday spreadsheet into maintenance, or switch to a range like 136–141 so the goal line doesn’t become a cliff? Genuinely curious what your trend-line zen looks like now.

Congratulations! That is so awesome. I’m a Monday-weigher too, but I use a paper calendar stuck inside the bathroom cabinet. When my losses slowed, what kept me sane was measuring my waist once a month — the scale would stall but my jeans told a different story. Now that you’re at goal, are you switching your spreadsheet to a maintenance tab? I’ve been wondering about that. Our local pharmacy tech mentioned some insurance plans cover a nutrition visit, but I haven’t called yet. Also, small-town tip: thrift-store jeans until your size settles. What’s the first non-scale victory you’re chasing now?
