Picked up a barbell after the scale went silent

I've been orbiting the same two-pound window since February. Not up, not down, just circling. I kept telling myself I'd start lifting once the number cooperated, which is obviously backwards.

A few of you kept saying some version of "the weights don't care about your plateau" and it lodged somewhere in my head. So four weeks ago I started. Three sessions a week, mostly dumbbells and a squat rack, nothing fancy. I'm sore in places I forgot I had, and my appetite is noticeably louder than it was.

The scale still hasn't moved. But I'm sleeping through the night, my posture looks different in the mirror, and I can haul every grocery bag in one trip without negotiating with myself. That isn't nothing.

For those of you lifting while still losing: how long did your body take to settle before the number started catching up to the work?

Cafe owner here — the “one bite to check the batch” thing was basically my hidden fourth meal. What helped was a quarter-sheet pan on the counter: every taste-test bite goes on it instead of straight into my mouth, and at close I see the pile. Grim, but weirdly effective. Four weeks in, are you noticing your actual meals getting smaller now that you’re lifting? I expected the scale to move first, but for me the 5pm pastry pull eased up before the number did.
