Quiet appetite made room for some awkward questions

The weird part of this whole thing isn't eating less. It's that the noise level dropped and I can finally hear what's underneath.

I always blamed hotel rooms. Long travel day, no kitchen, nothing to do but flip channels and order something warm. Around the four-month mark I noticed I was doing the same reach for the room service menu even when the lobby breakfast had already filled me up. Sat there staring at it for ten minutes on Tuesday, and the honest answer was: I wasn't hungry, I was dreading a 7am call with three time zones involved. Ordered tea instead.

The tea was fine. The dread stuck around. But at least I knew which one was which for once, instead of blaming my stomach for a feeling that lived in my calendar.

Now I catch the pattern a couple times a week. Reward snack after a delayed connection, salty something while I'm waiting on a reply, the whole ritual of it. Not every time, and I still eat the fries sometimes.

Curious whether anyone else has found that the quiet gives you a front-row seat to your own strange reasons.
