The folding chair at my niece's recital didn't beat me

I’m in a small town, so third-grade recitals happen in the school gym with those metal folding chairs. My local pharmacy scale has been stubborn, and insurance is being fussy about my next refill, but Thursday I sat through all 55 minutes without shifting, standing up, or doing the sweaty side-lean.

Last spring I’d have found an aisle seat just to escape. Nobody talks about that kind of win.

It won’t show up on a chart, but I drve home weirdly proud. What’s a quiet non-scale thing that surprised you?
