The goal I care about is leaving the last bite

I run a small cafe, so my day is built around tasting and adjusting. For a long time my only measure was the scale, and it made every spoonful feel like a verdict.

Lately I’m trying three goals that have nothing to do with pounds: sit down for my own lunch at least four days out of seven, stop at one sample when I’m testing a new scone even if the batch is uneven, and take the long way home after close — 20 minutes, podcast on, no phone. I’m 11 days in and I’ve hit the first two more often than I expected.

The scale hasn’t been my main thought, which is strange and kind of a relief. What non-scale target are you working on right now?
