Curious how peptide combo compares to growth hormone shots

I’m 42, down 31 lbs since February on a GLP-1, and my recovery at the gym is still pretty meh. I lift three mornings a week before my shift at the hardware store, sleep about 6.5 hours, and by week six my knees were creaky after squats. My local pharmacy can’t get the peptide combo a buddy keeps mentioning, and my insurance lady basically laughed at anything growth-hormone related unless there’s a real diagnosis. I’m not looking for dosing or a protocol—just wondering if folks who’ve tried either route noticed better sleep, skin, or recovery, and whether the pharmacy/insurance hassle was worth it. Did one feel gentler than the other? I’m trying to decide if it’s even worth bringing up at my next checkup.

I’m on a similar empty-nest reset—longer walks, cooking more fish and beans. I quit chasing the peptide-vs-GH comparison and started tracking sleep and steps in a cheap notebook. When I got 7+ hours and hit 8k steps, my knees stopped complaining after squats; at 6.5, they creaked every time. Have you logged your sleep against your lifting days? Also, are you eating enough before those early sessions? That was the piece I kept missing.

I hit goal last spring and recovery lagged behind the scale too. What actually helped wasn’t adding anything exotic — it was admitting that 6.5 hours of sleep plus three early lifts was my ceiling. I cut squats to twice a week, added 10 easy minutes on the bike first, and trcked protein and water for a month. Knees got quieter and DOMS dropped a lot. How many hard squat sets are you doing weekly right now? And are your three lift days back-to-back, or is there a rest day in there? On your feet at the hardware store might be stacking more fatigue than you think.

I do not have firsthand experience with the combo-versus-injections question, so I will leave that to others. What helped me was switching from judging sleep night by night to a seven-night average. My knees only feel creaky when that average drops below seven hours for two weeks, even if one night looks great. I also keep a one-line knee note after each lifting session and review it every Sunday. Is your 6.5 hours a true weekly average, or more of a typical night? If it is the average, that may be the first thread worth pulling.

Hi, I’m brand-new here too—literally week one—so I’m mostly reading and taking notes. I don’t know enough to compare those options, but one tracking thing helped me feel less lost: I started jotting sleep hours plus how much I’m on my feet at work, not just gym sets. My cranky days lined up more with 6-hour nights and concrete floors than with lifting. Have you noticed whether your kees feel creakier after squats specifically, or after a long shift? Sorry if that’s a dumb question—just curious what pattern you’re seeing.
