Finally maintaining — how do you ignore the next shiny peptide?

I’m 14 months into maintenance after losing 62 lbs (size 18 to 10). The first year I was a mess of spreadsheets, constantly tweaking things. Now my routine is almost boring: 10k steps, 30g protein at breakfast, lights out by 10:30. It’s working. But every few weeks some new thing pops up — GHRP-2, this or that stack — and my brain whispers, “maybe you’d feel even better.” I’ve learned that for me, feeling better usually means leaving a good thing alone. Still, I’m curious how others handle it. Do you have a rule for when you’ll experiment vs. when you just protect the boring baseline? Would love the long-game perspective.

I keep a “boring wins” note in my phone: sleep, steps, protein at breakfast, two strength sessions, and a Friday lights-out streak. When shiny-object syndrome hits, I ask what problem the new thing solves that my current routine isn’t already solving. If the answer is “maybe 5% better,” I wait two weeks. Usually the itch fades. There was a thread here last year where everyone was chasing the next stack; most of those folks aren’t posting now. Maintenance really is a different sport. What non-scale win tells you your baseline is solid? For me it’s not white-knuckling the boring stuff anymore.

small-town pharmacy angle: I ask myself if I’d pay cash for the shiny thing and then still be happy if my insurance changed next month. Most of the time it’s a no. My maintenance win has been a boring Sunday reset: weigh, meal prep 3 lunches, refill my pill organizer, walk the dog. That’s it. When the peptide whisper starts, I give it a 2-week waiting period and put the money I would’ve spent into a

My test is the 5pm Tuesday test: would this shiny thing actually help when both kids are melting down and I’m eating standing up? If not, no. I aso keep a “temptation receipt” note—date, what I almost switched to, and how I felt two weeks later. Mostly “forgot about it” or “no change.” My snack drawer is my maintenance hardware: turkey sticks, grapes, mini popcorn bags, cheese cubes. When the whisper starts, I restock that instead. It scratches the tweak itch with way less chaos. What’s your one chaos-proof anchor that isn’t on a spreadsheet?

Congrats on 14 months — that’s the real milestone. Something that helped me: I switched from daily weigh-ins to a 4-week rolling average and a simple “trend, energy, sleep” check. When a shiny new option catches my eye, I ask whether it would actually move that 4-week line, or just add novelty to my routine. If my trend is stable and I feel good, I put it on a 30-day waitlist. Most of the time the urge fades by day 10. If it doesn’t, I bring it up at my next routine visit, not mid-scroll. Has anyone else used a waiting period as a filter?

My dumb student hack: a 2-week cooling-off rule. Any shiny new stack just goes in a note on my phone, zero rabbit holes. If I still care after 14 days of normal sleep/steps/protein, I can read ONE overview. So far 6/7 times I’ve forgotten it. The one time I didn’t, I was actually bored and underfed, not because my routine was broken. Dorm dinner that week was rice + tuna + frozen peas. Are you tempted more on low-sleep weeks or low-protein days?
