A scale-fluctuation headline sent me to my notes

I saw a short morning-show segment about why one weigh-in can jump around — salt, sleep, bathroom timing — and my first thought was, okay, that tracks with my little notebook. I’ve been logging my morning number plus how I slept and whether dinner was salty.

This week: 171.8, 172.6, 172.2, 173.0, then 172.4. The single days look dramatic; my five-day average moved by 0.2, which feels much more honest.

I still don’t love a jumpy morning, but I’m trying to look at the pattern and ask what my body’s telling me instead of bargaining with the scale. For those who track, do you watch a weekly average, a trend app, or just your own notes?

And how do you keep a weird number from setting your mood?
