What are your easy snacks when appetite is gone?

For what it's worth, I'm 9 weeks in and my appetite is basically gone by dinner. I have a 2yo and a 5yo, so my day is cold coffee, half a banana, then picking at their leftovers. Some days I realize at 4pm I've had maybe 600 calories and I feel shaky and irritable. Not looking for medical advice, just practical ideas. My snack drawer currently has string cheese, turkey sticks, almonds, and little applesauce pouches. I can usually do yogurt with granola if I sit down, but standing at the counter is easier. What are your no-fuss, one-hand snacks that actually go down when you're not hungry? I'm trying to add 2 mini meals around school pickup. Small win: I ate a full egg wrap yesterday while waiting in car line.

Night shift here. Appetite is a liar at 4pm. I keep a little bento in the fridge: boiled eggs, cheese cubes, almonds, cucumber. Eat two bites every time I get water. Also set phone alarm at 2pm and 5pm. If I wait for hunger, I crash. Protein shake with whole milk is my emergency dinner when kids are chaos. Not fancy. Works. What's in the drawer now? If it's all bars, swap half for salty stuff. Sweet gets old fast when your appetite is gone.

That 4pm shaky/irritable cluster is usually underfueling, especially with cold coffee as the only morning input. I’d stop relying on appetite and schedule two anchor snacks—10am and 2pm—whether you feel like it or not. Cold/zero-effort options: Greek yogurt cup, cottage cheese + everything seasoning, edamame, turkey/cheese roll-up, tuna pouch on cucumber, or a ready-to-drink protein shake. I track only total calories and protein; it takes 30 seconds and catches the 600-cal days before they happen. What’s currently in the drawer? If it’s crackers/granola bars, that’s mostly carbs and won’t fix the 4pm crash.

I relate to the afternoon realization. One thing that helped me was keeping a shelf of one-handed, roughly 200-calorie options I can eat while parenting: whole-milk yogurt drink, nut-butter packet with apple slices, cheese stick plus grapes, or a small pre-blended smoothie in a mason jar. None require much appetite, just a decision. I also track weekly averages rather than daily totals, and that showed me my low days often followed chaotic mornings. Do you track weekly averages, or just whatever the day adds up to? If you are open to it, choosing two anchor snacks and setting phone reminders might be a gentle starting point.
