I’ve been maintaining for 14 months, and this is one of those tiny decisions I revisit. I picked cupboard because fridge temp swings every time someone opens it for milk, plus condensation on the vial lbel annoyed me. I keep it in a small opaque box with my logbook, away from sun and stove.
Not saying it’s right; just what made sense for my kitchen. I mark the opened date on tape and toss it at my own comfort cutoff. The fridge crowd probably likes the colder, steadier feel.
