We hired someone to redo the restaurant's website, and last week he asked me to dig up an old photo of myself so he could build one of those before-and-after sliders. I found one from the fall of 2023. I was 246 in it. I'm 168 now, which is a whole other person's worth of weight, and I had genuinely stopped thinking about it in those terms.
He meant it as a nice thing, and it was. But I sat with it for a day. What got me wasn't the size difference. It's that the guy in the 2023 picture looks like he's holding his breath. I didn't know he was doing that. I thought I was just standing there.
I said yes to the slider, for what it's worth. I'd rather have it on the site than keep dodging cameras at my own place.
Curious whether anyone else has had an old photo land harder than a mirror ever did — not in a bad way, just louder.
