The spring 3-mile felt like proof, not a race

Last weekend I did a local 3-mile route with a friend. It landed almost a year after the morning I saw my peak weight, though I didn’t plan it that way. I’m in maintenance now, so my only goals were steady pacing, water at the halfway table, and not turning it into punishment. Finished in 42 minutes. A few years ago that would have wrecked my knees and my mood. This time I came home, made eggs, and took the dog around the block. The long game feels boring in a good way: same breakfast, same evening walk, occasional events to check in. For those who’ve done a milestone walk or run, did it change how you think about maintenance, or was it just a nice Saturday?
