Three months of refill receipts, shipping times, and one annoying pattern

I started keeping a plain note on my phone back in March: date ordered, price paid, days until it landed, and whether the status said in stock or processing. Three months in, the pattern is boring but genuinely useful. My cheapest refill came from a place that quoted five to seven business days and took four. The priciest one quoted two days and took nine. Spread across four refills was about $118 for the same monthly amount, which I did not expect going in.

Stock is the part I can't predict. Two of my four orders sat at processing a full day past the estimate, and both times I'd waited until I was down to my last few days. New rule for me: order at the two-week mark, not the five-day mark.

One more thing — arrival speed and cold-pack condition don't track together at all. The fastest box was the warmest one.

Anyone else logging this stuff? Trying to figure out if that price gap is normal or just my timing.

Fellow road warrior here. I keep a similar note, but I added a “where was I?” column: home, hotel, or friend’s place. Hotel front desks are chaos — one signs at 8am, another waits till the evening shift, so a quoted 2-day can quietly become 4. If it lands Sunday, the business center is closed and I’m watching tracking like it’s a boarding group. Sharp question: do you log delivery zip/address type? I bet the priciest “fast” refill was

The thing that broke my spreadsheet was lumping “processing” and “in transit” together. Once I added a column for first carrier scan, the mystery mostly vanished: my last refill sat in processing 3 days, then moved in 2. The quoted shipping window was accurate from scan, not from order. I also note if it lands right before a weekend, because that adds a dead day or two with no status change. Have you tried splitting order-to-scan vs scan-to-door? Curious whether your priciest one was actually slow or just slow to hand off.

i do the same note but added two columns: label created and first carrier scan. game changer. my last refill said 2-day shipping, but the label sat for 3 days before usps even scanned it, so it was more like 5. also anything i order after like 10pm thursday just chills over the weekend. do you log order time vs ship time, or just total days? trying to see if late-night ordering is why my “processing” status feels stuck forever lol

I count calendar days, but I also log the gap between “label created” and first carrier scan. That column has been the real story: my last two orders sat 2–3 days in pre-shipment before moving, so the quoted shipping speed meant nothing. Ordered Saturday? Add two days minimum. Curious whether your four-day cheapest was calendar or business days? If business, that’s basically a six

Three years in, I do a version of this too. I add one column: days of supply left when the box actually hits the porch. That changed my behavior more than price. My last two refills arrived with 9 and 11 days left, so I stopped reordering the second the app said “processing.” There was a thread last fall about “processing” vs. “in transit,” and the label creation date was the real tell, not the quoted ETA. Are you logging ship date separately from arrival? That gap is what I watch now.
