Two kids, cold dinners, and a lot of unsolicited opinions

I eat standing up most nights. Someone always needs a refill or a wipe or a signature, so my real meal happens after bedtime and it's usually cold. That part I'm used to. What I'm not used to is the commentary. My aunt asked across a birthday table whether I'm "doing that shot thing." A coworker told me I should just eat less and walk more, like she'd cracked a code. My mom keeps asking if anyone's watching my numbers, which comes from love but lands sideways every time. What actually helps: the bottom drawer of the fridge. Pre-cut cucumber, cheese sticks, the yogurt tubes my kids reject. When my appetite is weird I can grab something without negotiating with myself. That's the whole system. No app, no color-coded containers. Down 26 pounds snce February, mostly in the middle of chaos. I'd rather talk about the drawer than the shots, honestly. Does anyone else get more questions than support?

Three years in and the unsolicited commentary thread still pops up every few months. What helped me was deciding in advance which sentence I’d use, so I wasn’t improvising while holding a toddler. Mine is: “I’m working on it with my doctor; pass the green beans?” Then I actually pass the green beans. For the cold-dinner part, I started making myself a plate when I plate the kids and covering it with a second plate. It’s not hot, but it’s mine, and I eat it sitting down for 4 minutes before the next refill. Which comments bug you more—the family-table ones or the coworker drive-bys?
