Weekly averages did more for me than daily weigh-ins

Tbh sixteen months ago I switched to weighing myself only on Friday mornings and averaging the last four readings. The daily number was making me irritable for the whole morning, and the average turned it into information rather than a verdict. Down about 54 pounds now, and the trend is mostly small steps with a couple of flat stretches that each lasted a season.

What changed beyond the number: I eat an actual breakfast, I stop when I am satisfied rather than full, and my evenings feel calmer. I still write the average in a paper notebook on the kitchen counter — no app, no colors, just the date and the figure. It takes about twenty seconds and keeps me honest without letting food become the main character of my day.

I am curious whether others have settled into a rhythm like this, or whether the average ended up hiding too much for you. When the scale and your energy disagree, which one do you trust?
