My after-dinner loop is now longer than my recipes

For what it's worth, the kids are out, and for a while I kept cooking like they were coming back. I’d make a full pan of something, eat standing up, then sit down for the actual meal. Last spring I started a 12-minute walk after I cleared the table—just to break the loop. Now it’s 30 to 40 minutes, and I plan dinners around one protein and one vegetable instead of a whole production. I’m down 59 pounds over roughly 15 months. The medication quiets a lot of the food chatter, but it doesn’t fill the after-dinner hour. I still have nights when the empty rooms make me want to snack out of boredom. For those further along, what do you do with that hour?
