Do you take a real off day or just a lighter one?

Saturday I planned a genuine rest day — no after-dinner walk, no dumbbells, no stretching routine — and by 2pm I was pacing the kitchen like the dog waiting for a walk.

I've been doing a 30-minute loop after dinner plus two short strength sessions a week, and my knees had been politely asking for a break. So I gave them one.

Slept nine hours, ate normally, felt oddly guilty about doing nothing, then woke up Sunday with more energy for my usual loop than I've had in a while. So the off day wasn't a hole in the plan, it was part of it.

Now I'm trying to find the right rhythm — one full rest day each week, or two lighter days instead? What does resting actually look like in your routine?

Do you schedule it ahead, or wait until your body sends a memo?
