My food log explained the last three weeks

I was ready to blame pharmacology. Ten days of weighed intake told a less flattering story: 2,340 kcal/day average, 95 g protein, 4,800 steps. My prior estimate was around 1,800. Oils, bites, nuts, creamer. Once I tightened the log, the trend resumed at 0.4 kg/week. My medication didn’t change; my data did. Annoyingly clear. If your loss has gone flat, what’s the most frequent unlogged item in your day?

Annoyingly clear is the perfect phrase. The one that got me was weekends: my weekly average looked fine, but when I split it out, Friday–Sunday was ~500–700 kcal/day higher. Not dramatic on any single day, just enough to erase the deficit. I started pre-logging Saturday morning coffee + breakfast before I ate, and it took the guesswork out. Did you happen to look at weekday vs. weekend in your 10 days? Also, how’s your hunger at 95g protein—steady, or are you white-knuckling the evening? That’s usually where my tracking gets creative.

total newbie here (day four), and this is weirdly comforting and terrifying. I’ve been mentally writing off the two or three peanut-butter spoons while packing lunches as “not real food.” I finally put the jar on the scale yesterday and that habit alone was ~180 kcal. Not a crisis, but exactly the kind of ghost calorie I’d never log. When you started weighing, did you pre-log a standard amount for recurring stuff like that, or did you measure every single time? I’m trying to be accurate without making every snack feel like a science fair.

Honestly, oh, the cooking drizzle. I finally kept a scale on the counter and started taring the pan — my "quick glug" of olive oil turned out to be 190 calories, every single night. The bigger surprise was the standing-up bites: a hunk of cheese, the crispy edge off the pan, finishing what my husband left on his plate. Easily 250 before I ever sat down. I also stopped counting walks as "exercise" to trade against, and logged them as plain steps instead. Question for you: did you weigh the oils, or measure by spoon? The scale is what finally made it click for me — annoying, just like you said.
