Bac water dates and my habit of treating labels like prophecy

For what it's worth, i’ve got a half-used bottle with a puncture date from January, parked in the butter compartment, and a newer one behind it. Every time I open the fridge I hear the old forum argument: toss it at the printed window, or keep it if it still looks clear?

I’m not after a chemistry lecture or a green light. I’m curious how folks actually decide.

My own habit is painter’s tape with the date, fridge storage, a glance for floaters or cloudiness, and then I usually toss it earlier than I need to. I’ve wasted more than I’ve kept.

Past threads on this seem to split by risk tolerance and how often someone reconstitutes. Part of me wants one simple rule; part of me knows labels are written for the lowest common denominator and legal caution.

Do you go by the printed discard window, your own observation, or just replace it when the batch feels old? I’m trying to be less wasteful without getting sloppy.
