New member, tiny math question about cost comparisons

Hi all, brand new here. I’m only a few days into my first week and still mostly lurking, but I hit a small snag while trying to budget.

When people compare cost per milligram for non-prescription supplies, do you use the total milligrams, the number of servings, or what a month actually costs out of pocket? I started a note on my phone with three columns and then felt silly because I don’t even know which column matters.

I’m not asking for sources or anything—just how you keep the math straight without driving yourself nuts. Is this the kind of thing that gets easier once you’ve been here longer?

Thanks for being gentle with a newbie.
