Peptides, a stubborn belly, and my empty-nester reset

I’m 54, kids launched, and finally doing the walks and cooking I kept putting off. Since March I’ve logged 22 pounds down, waist from 40 to 36, and I make a big pot of veggie soup every Sunday. But my lower belly still has this firm, rounded look that doesn’t match the rest of my progress. I keep seeing chatter about peptide-related belly changes, and it spooks me a little. I’m not using anything beyond my prescribed GLP-1, no plans to add anything, but I’m curious whether others have seen that mid-section puffiness while losing weight. Did yours eventually catch up with the rest of you, or did you have to change up your routine? I’m mostly walking 3 miles most mornings and lifting two days a week, so I’m trying to be patient.

Hi, brand new here too (week one, so please forgive any awkwardness). Congrats on 22 lbs and 4 inches—that’s amazing. The firm lower-belly thing would bug me too. One concrete thing I started: measuring two spots, at navel and about 2 inches below, first thing in the morning, plus a side photo, because my lower belly looks so different after a salty or soup-heavy day. Have you noticed if yours changes morning vs. evening, or is it pretty constant? Not asking for anything med-specific, just curious what your tracking shows.

Nice work on 22 and 4 inches—that’s real recomp, not peptide magic. One thing I’d check before blaming some weird belly change: measure lower belly at the same spot, fasted AM and again after dinner, for a week. Mine swung 1.5 inches from sodium and veg volume alone, especially with a big Sunday soup if the broth or canned beans run salty. Also film your relaxed posture from the side—anterior pelvic tilt can make a firm lower pouch look way worse than it is. Are you tracking that fasted-vs-fed difference? If it’s flat, it’s probably stubborn fat, and you just keep lifting and sleeping.
