Labs made my comfortable big-guy story wobble

I’m 38, lift four days a week, sleep 7–7.5 hrs, and keep protein around 180g. I’ve been the big-but-strong guy for years and honestly leaned into it. Then my annual panel came back with a fatty liver note and A1c creeping up. Not scary yet, but enough that my I’m-healthy-just-thick narrative took a hit. Weird part: my lifts are fine and my waist hasn’t moved much, so I’d been using performance as proof I didn’t need to change anything. Now I’m trying to do this as recomp, not a crash: same training, more walking, tighter food logging, and watching sleep instead of chasing scale drops. I’m skeptical of shortcuts, including my own tendency to call every comfortable habit fine. Anyone else had labs force a re-evaluation without the scale giving you a warning first?
