Break room birthday cake keeps testing my resolve

Someone brought a sheet cake for a coworker’s birthday and left it in our break room with a stack of paper plates. I ate my lunch first, told myself I’d just have coffee, and then spent the next two hours negotiating with a corner piece. I didn’t cave yesterday, but today I took the smallest slice and still logged it. The weird part is I’m not actually hungry. The cake is just there, and my brain keeps yelling that free food is a limited-time event. I’m parked in a 3-pound range for the sixth straight week, so every extra hundred calories feels like it’s personally trolling me. I’m proud I logged it instead of pretending it didn’t happen, but I’m tired of treating a break room like an obstacle course. Does anyone else have a script for the office food table, or do you just white-knuckle it?
