Does the mental math ever stop running in the background

I’m 14 months into recomp and about 38 lb down. I lift four mornings a week, aim for roughly 160g protein, and sleep is mostly dialed in. I’m not looking for shortcuts.

The physical side feels manageable. The mental side is the stubborn part: I still estimate every plate before I sit down, check my waist in the bathroom mirror, and replay whether dinner fit my day. It’s not panic anymore, but it’s a background app that never closes.

I’d like to eat a random burrito bowl without doing math or treating the next morning’s scale as a verdict. For those further out, did the constant calculation fade, or did you have to deliberately practice not caring? What actually helped?
