How do you all keep a useful log without turning it into a job

I’m 14 weeks in and my tracking has quietly split into three places: a Notes app line each morning, a paper calendar by the kettle, and photos of pharmacy labels. Last Sunday I tried to compare appetite before and after a schedule change and realized my entries use different words every time—'fine,' 'normal,' 'snacky'—so the timeline tells me almost nothing.

I’m not trying to build a perfect spreadsheet; I just want to know what changed, when, and whether it actually mattered. For people who’ve kept this up for months, what’s the minimum you log?

Do you use a fixed prompt, meal times, side effects, or just one weekly paragraph? And what did you stop tracking because it turned into busywork?

I suspect I’m overcomplicating the process, so I’d rather copy a boring system that works than keep inventing new ones.
