I apologized to the muffin tin, then moved it off the counter

Tuesday I baked a tray of lemon-poppy muffins for the shop case and left them on the back counter while I iced the first batch. I ate one broken one to check texture, then half of another while I boxed the rest.

It wasn’t a big dramatic thing, just quiet grazing that never made it into my note. Later I wrote one line: “cooling rack by the prep sink = four bites before lunch.” I moved the rack to the dish side and put a lid on the extras before I started icing.

Yesterday the same muffins came out and I only tasted the one I set aside on purpose. I felt a little silly apologizing to a tray of muffins, but moving them was the most useful thing I did all week.

Does anyone else have a spot in their kitchen that practically invites grazing?
