Moved my car seat up two clicks

I drive a 2009 Corolla with 180k miles and a check-engine light that's basically a personality trait. For the first year of school, my belly was basically the airbag: steering wheel jammed into me, seat all the way back, seatbelt extender living in the door pocket. I've lost 47 lbs in about 6 months, mostly by surviving dorm food with cheap protein: tuna packets, Greek yogurt, boiled eggs from the dining hall, lentil soup, and way too many rotisserie chicken Fridays. Last week I realized I could move the seat up two clicks and still have room between me and the wheel. I also fit in a booth at the pizza place without doing the awkward table-scoot. Not gonna lie, I almost cried over a car seat adjustment. Anybody else have a random non-scale victory that hit harder than the scale?

Fellow Corolla person here—mine’s an ‘08, and the seat-click milestone hit me harder than the scale did. I put a strip of blue painter’s tape on the seat rail so I’d quit sliding it back out of pure habit. Also started parking in the far row at the grocery store, so I get a few extra steps before I even grab my cheap protein staples. Question: did your seatbelt fit change first, or did you have to retrain your hand not to reach for that extender? That door-pocket habit would linger for me.

Two clicks is huge. I’m in a 10-week stall where the scale just breathes at me, so I’ve been hunting non-scale wins. My weird one: I maked my seatbelt fit on the B-pillar with painter’s tape—no extender needed now, but I still keep it in the door pocket like a security blanket. Did yours get officially retired, or are you superstitious like me? Also, what cheap dorm protein got you through? I’m dying for ideas that aren’t another tuna packet.

Not a Corolla, but I taped a piece of painter’s tape on the seat rail when I started. Last week I realized I’d moved it two inches forward without thinking. Plateau here too—12 weeks, same 3 lbs bouncing. What’s saving my sanity is a monthly waist measurement and a photo in the same ratty hoodie. The scale hasn’t moved, but the hoodie drapes instead of strains. Also, I stopped tracking every bite and just pre-log my protein and veggies, then eyeball the rest. Not perfect, but it keeps me from rage-quitting. Did your seatbelt fit differently at the same time, or was it just the seat?

Not a Corolla, but my old Tacoma’s seat recliner was my version of a scale. I marked my spot with a paint pen on the bracket. Last week I moved it two notches and didn’t even notice until my knee hit the dash. Small-town tip: our pharmacy has a free blood pressure machine up front; I check it every pickup, and it’s been a weirdly motivating non-scale win. Also, what dorm protein did you lean on? My nephew’s about to live on ramen and I’m trying to send him a care package that won’t break my grocery budget.

The seatbelt extender staying in the door pocket is the real trophy. I’ve been leaning hard on non-scale wins lately: waist at the navel once a month, flights of stairs before I’m winded, and whether I can reach the glovebox without unbuckling. Weirdly, parking in the far campus lot added a 12-minute walk each way and did more for my mood than any scale number. Did your knees get happier getting in and out, or is the steering wheel still the boss?
