I keep a 12-column log. Weight is column one, but the one I actually check is 'minutes to feel normal after three flights of stairs.' Week 1: 9 minutes, sitting on the landing, pretending to check email. This morning: 2 minutes 40 seconds, and I was irritated my podcast hadn't ended yet. The scale is down 31.4 lb since January, which is fine, but the stair trendline fell harder and earlier. Mildly contrarian take: single weigh-ins and single NSVs are noise. Give me 20+ points and a slope. I’m not saying the medication did all of it — I also stopped treating the elevator as a personality trait. But the spreadsheet caught the change before my mirror or my old pants did. Anyone else track something odd that ended up mattering more than weight?

This is such a useful reframe. I keep a similar column: seconds until my breathing feels quiet after two flights, plus whether I could talk in complete sentences. My weekly average went from 95 seconds in February to 38 seconds now; the scale moved in fits and starts, but that column has been almost boringly steady. The mirror caught up later, maybe by a month. Do you log a weekly average for your stair metric, or just the best single reading? I find the average keeps me from overreacting to a bad morning, especially after poor sleep or a salty dinner. Congratulations on that 31.4 lb—and on the podcast annoyance, which sounds
