Somewhere around wek eleven I stopped white-knuckling the after-school window. Two kids, two pickup times, and a snack drawer that used to be a trapdoor. I moved the crackers to a high cabinet and put apples and string cheese where my hand lands first. Sounds dumb, but I reach where my eyes go. Down 18 so far; sixty is the long game. The strange part is dinners got easier, not harder. I'm not grazing while I cook, so I sit down and eat one plate instead of three standing bites and somebody's leftover crust. The drawer isn't gone, it's just boring now. Anyone else rearrange the kitchen instead of trying to rearrange their willpower?
