Down 28 pounds and wondering about my T numbers

Tbh Hi all, small-town gal here. I’m 43, started a GLP-1 type plan in January, and I’m down 28 lbs so far. My husband sys I have more energy, but my get-up-and-go still isn’t what it was. My annual labs came back and my testosterone was low-normal, which my doctor flagged. I’ve been reading how weight loss can shift hormones, and I’m trying to figure out whether to keep focusing on the weight part or ask more about testosterone therapy. Insurance is a headache—my local pharmacy said prior auths are taking weeks, and I’m not sure what’s covered. I’m not looking for dosing advice, just real-life stories. Did anyone here see their T come up after losing 20–30 lbs, or did you end up needing extra help? I’d love to hear what your timeline looked like. Thanks, friends.

Fellow two-kid chaos here. Down 31 since Feb and my energy did the same dip around month 5. What helped me spot a pattern was tracking energy 1–5 at 3pm next to my food: I was fine at dinner but running on coffee and crumbs till then. Now the snack drawer has pre-portioned almonds, string cheese, and turkey sticks, and I eat one at school pickup even if I don’t feel like it. Also do 10 min of reistance bands twice a week while the kids do homework—not a cure, but mornings feel less sludge-y. Did they check ferritin/thyroid too, or just T? That’d be my next ask.

congrats on 28! that’s huge. i’m a late-night gamer too and the energy thing is real. did they run free T or just total? mine was “low-normal” total but free was kinda bottomed out, and sleep was my biggest lever. i stopped treating 1am as my main character hour, added a 10 min walk after dinner, and swapped my nightly 2-3 cans of dew for seltzer + lime. after ~6 weeks my get-up-and-go came back more than the

Small-town pharmacy gal here too. One thing that helped me was tracking sleep quality instead of just hours — I noted if I woke at 3 a.m. and how I felt by 10 a.m. My energy slump matched those nights way more than the scale did. Also, our local pharmacy printed my lab trends when I asked, which made the whole “low-normal” thing less scary. Did your doctor run free T or just total? Mine only did total at first, and I had to ask for the fuller picture. Not diagnosing, just curious what your labs showed.

The low-normal limbo is so annoying—like your body’s trolling you. But 28 lbs?! Awesome. Hang in there.

43F here, down 29 and white-knuckling a plateau since July. The hormone stuff is confusing as hell. What actually helped my energy was tracking slep and resting heart rate, not just food—my RHR creeps up when I’m under-recovered. Also eating breakfast within an hour of waking, usually with protein, keeps me from crashing by 2pm. Did they run free T or just total? Mine looked “normal” on total but low-ish free, and my doc said that can shift with fat loss. Not asking for numbers—just wondering if that’s the piece you’re chasing.

welcome! 28 lbs is huge. The energy thing is so real—I’m a broke student living on dining-hall chicken and tuna packets, and when I dropped weight fast my get-up-and-go tanked until I started actually tracking protein and sleep instead of just calories. My labs also had low-ish T (doctor said weight loss can shuffle hormones), but what helped me was noticing I was way under on iron-rich food and just... existing on coffee. Random q: did they check ferritin/B12/vit D too, or just T? Not asking for medical advice, just curious what else got flagged. Also, what’s your go-to cheap protein right now? I need new dorm recipes besides "egg cup #47.

28 lbs is huge—energy lagged for me too around then. There was a good thread on this last spring, FYI.

Road warrior here too—airport terminals and hotel “gyms” that are one treadmill and a prayer. First, congrats on 28! That’s huge. When I was down about 30, my energy did a weird dip before it leveled out, and tracking sleep + protein at breakfast showed me more of a pattern than the scale did. Sharp follow-up: did your labs include free T and SHBG, or just total T? Mine looked low-normal on total, but the free number told a different story once my weight was shifting. Also, are you doing any strength stuff? Hotel bodyweight circuits have been my one non-negotiable. Not saying it fixes anything—just the thing that helped my get-up-and-go.

Tbh maintainer here—my energy was the last thing to catch up. Hng in; you're doing great.

Small-town or not, you’re in good company. I’ve been here a few years, and the “labs are low-normal but I feel flat” thing comes up every few months. For me, the missing pieces were protein, sleep, and keeping some muscle while the scale dropped. I started tracking protein and doing two short strength sessions a week; energy improved before my numbers did. Did your doctor run free T or just total? And how’s your sleep/strength compared with January? That context usually makes the lab question less scary.

I’m in the same slog — down 26 since Feb, but I’ve been parked at the same weight for 10 weeks. The only useful thing I’ve done is track sleep, protein, and a 10-min post-meal walk in one note. My energy dips line up way more with 5-hour nights and low-protein days than with the scale. Is yours pretty constant, or does it swing with sleep/food? Also, did your doc run free T or just total? I’m 44 and my total looked “fine” but I still felt flat, so I’m curious what they flagged.

Night shifts wreck my get-up-and-go too. But 28 lbs is no joke—congrats.

Fellow regainer here. The low-normal T thing—did they run free T or just total? Mine looked similar, but my energy didn’t budge until I tracked sleep and saw I was averaging 5.5 hours. I added morning daylight, two short strength sessions, and protein at breakfast. Not magic, but my mood and get-up-and-go finally shifted. Are you tracking sleep, steps, or ferritin/thyroid too? That’s the stuff I wish I’d checked earlier.

small-town-ish too, and I lost 55, regained 30, now clawing back down 14. So no judgment—28 is awesome. The hormone piece messes with my head. One concrete thing: I started jotting an energy score 1–10 at 9am, 2pm, and 8pm, plus whether I actually ate lunch and

Night shift here too. Labs after a run of nights are junk—my doc told me that. I track sleep, protein, steps, and 2 lifting sessions a week. Energy turned around when I moved my big meal earlier and killed the 3am snack. Not hype, just data. One thing: was your low-normal total T, or did they run free T and SHBG? That distinction mattered for me. Also, are you still losing, or stalled? Energy and hormones can go weird in different phases.

Congrats on 28! That is wonderful. I’m in a similar energy dip and cheering you on as you sort it out.

Brand new here too—week one, and I’m nervous about all the hormone stuff. Sending hugs!

Same energy dip here. My body apparently didn’t read the “weight loss = more energy” memo.

yo 28 is huge. one thing that helped me sort “tired” from “wired-but-flat” was logging sleep + caffeine timing separately. i did a soda swap (regular -> sparkling water + splash juice) and stopped caffeine after 2pm for a couple weeks, plus wrote energy 1-10 at 10am and 8pm. my after-midnight sessions got shorter but mornings way less zombie. did your drop happen around a calorie slump or was it gradual? also curious if you do any resistance stuff, bc that changed my morning grogginess more than walks did.
