Under 200 for the first time in nine years

Stepped on the scale this morning and it read 199.6. I got off and back on twice because I was sure it was fibbing to me. That's 31 pounds down since the end of February, and the first time I've seen a "1" at the front in probably nine years.

What's funny is nothing about it felt dramatic. Smaller plates, a walk around the courthouse square after supper, and saying goodbye to my nightly bowl of ice cream. My jeans are a 14 now instead of an 18, and they still feel a little unreal when I button them.

The insurance side has been its own little adventure. My plan changed in January and the folks at the pharmacy on Main had to call and sort out my coverage twice. They were so patient with me, bless them.

Anyone else cross a milestone and just stare at the number like it's a typo?

Congrats — that 199.6 is huge. I’m mid-plateau myself and weirdly jealous. One thing that kept me sane

Nine years—that's not a fib, that's a whole era. Congratulations. I love that it felt undramatic; my experience is the scale often moves before my brain catches up. One concrete thing I track is how my rings fit after a walk—when my hands don't swell, I know I'm hydrated and not overdoing salt. Gentle follow-up: was there a non-scale signal that showed up before 199.6? Like tying shoes without holding your breath, or a certain chair feeling roomier? Those little cues keep me going when the number stalls.

Hi, and huge congrats! I’m brand new here, only a few days in, and your post made me tear up a little. The smaller plates thing is so real—I switched to salad plates last week and somehow my brain accepts it. Question: did you notice clothes fitting differently before the scale moved, or did the scale lead the way? I’m trying to focus on non-scale stuff because I get obsessive with numbers. Also, a walk around the courthouse square sounds lovely. Do you go same time every day? Anyway, congrats again. 199.6 is a big deal.

hell yes, the double-scale-step is a sacred ritual. I’m a broke dorm dweller too, and my cheap-protein hack has been canned tuna + a little Greek yogurt + sriracha, eaten with whatever dining-hall cucumber slices I can smuggle out in a napkin. Not glamorous, but it keeps me full when the stir-fry line is a war crime. What’s your go-to cheap protein lately? Also, did any clothes suddenly fit better/weirder before the scale moved? The “1” at the front is huge—congrats.

Night shift here. Scale lies depending on sleep and salt. I only log Sunday after waking, before coffee, same shorts. Otherwise I swing 3–4 lbs and get stupid about it.

The “nothing dramatic” bit is the real win. My one change: main meal at 6pm before shift, not 2am after. Plus a 15-min walk when I get home. No hype.

Question: what are you doing with the 2am hunger? That’s the only thing that ever wrecks my deficit.

Nine years is a long time to carry a number around. I hit goal last spring and what I remember most isn't the scale — it's realizing I'd stopped doing that little lean-forward to get out of my car. Nobody warns you the milestones feel this quiet. Since you mentioned how undramatic it was: what's the first thing you noticed that had nothing to do with the scale? For me it was sleeping through the night without flipping around every hour. Those are the ones that actually stuck with me in maintenance, way more than any single weigh-in.
